Description
This photograph shows one of the many fossils found along the crest of the Sandia Mountains in North-Central New Mexico. This is a Crinoid fossil. Prior to their uplift within the last 10 million years, the Sandia Mountains area was covered by a sea full of marine life. The Sandia Mountains now rise to an elevation of 10,678 feet above sea-level.
