Description
This photograph is looking across the Phantom Valley to the lower elevations of the Never Summer Range near Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The river flowing through the valley floor is the the mighty Colorado River near its headwaters. The trees in the photograph are all spruce and fir trees. The trees have turned red because of the infestation of the Spruce Beetle which has killed off millions of acres of national forest across the state of Colorado. This photograph was taken in June of 2009.
